Hall of Recognition — Mrs Margaret Fulton Pitter
Margaret Fulton Pitter (nee Lang) was born on 14 May 1890, the first daughter of Robert and Mary Edith Lang. She grew up in Maryborough before the family moved to Warwick. On 21 November 1913 she married William Rhodes Pitter, an accountant, at Aberfeldy. By 1925 the couple were living at Indooroopilly.
Club and administration
Margaret was one of the first members of Graceville Croquet Club and became involved in its management, serving as honorary secretary from 1925 to 1938 and again from 1939 to 1945. Newspaper coverage of the era records her as official manager of the Queensland Croquet Association's interstate tournament alongside club president Mrs S. A. Sowden, and shows her presented with the English Croquet Association gold medal by Mr T. Nimmo MLA at Graceville Croquet Club in 1933.
Playing career
- Graceville CC singles championship, 1927, 1928, 1930, 1932, 1933; handicap singles, 1929, 1930
- Queensland Gold Medal finalist, 1929, 1930, 1932
- Won the Sankey Challenge Shield at Clayfield Croquet Club in 1930, 1931 and 1932. Under the event's rules, three wins in a row meant keeping the shield outright; Margaret's magnificent silver shield was donated to Graceville Croquet Club, where it still hangs in a place of honour.

The Brisbane Courier of 28 August 1933 described her win of the Queensland open championship, contested against Mrs J. McConachie on the McIlwraith lawns before around 250 spectators, as "an outstanding feat in Queensland history": the shield, competed for since 1911, became her property outright after her third win.
William Pitter died in 1947, and Margaret in 1949 after a short illness.
