Terry Ericson, from her CAQ Hall of Recognition citation

Terry Ericson, one of eight children, was born in Mareeba, graduated from James Cook College, and taught in North Queensland before relocating to Brisbane, where he was introduced to croquet in 1996. A rapid improver, he soon entered and won many events, and became a coach and referee of both Association and Golf Croquet, passing his knowledge on to upcoming players.

Club and playing career

Terry joined Windsor Croquet Club in 1996 and remains heavily involved, encouraging fellow members to enter club championships. He played across all three codes: Association Croquet, Golf Croquet and Ricochet, winning the Windsor Club Championship in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, and Club Championship Doubles in 2004 and 2008.

He progressed early into Queensland tournaments: CAQ Division 4 AC Bronze in his first year, followed by CAQ Division 3 Bronze in 1997. Notable results include:

  • 2012: runner-up Gibson Medal, runner-up CAQ AC Division 1, runner-up Steve Jones Trophy AC
  • Rene Cole Trophy, 2012, 2013, 2014
  • CAQ Ricochet Singles Championship, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014
  • First place in 20 CAQ Golf Croquet events between 1999 and 2015
  • CAQ Doubles Champion, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, partnering Greg Bury, Cynthia Tacey and Graham Wemyss

Representative honours

Terry represented his state and country many times: five times in Golf Croquet internationals (England, South Africa twice, Egypt, New Zealand, between 2011 and 2015), five times Golf Croquet Interstate, and five times in the AC Eire Cup.
