Marj Bannah Plate
Marj Bannah has been a member of Toombul Club for thirty years, serving that club in a variety of ways. She toiled tirelessly to develop the lawns to the standard required for State and National tournaments; indeed she took classes in greenkeeping to achieve optimal results. She has also served as as President and Club Coach; she started the great tradition of the thorough preparation of players that the club upholds to this day.
Marj served croquet as a member of the CAQ Tournament Committee and assisted South Brisbane Club when that site became CAQ headquarters. She was instrumental in introducing Mahjong to Toombul Club, providing an additional activity for members’ enjoyment.
Marj was awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000 for her “contribution to the support of croquet as a player and an administrator at club and State level.”
She donated this trophy to encourage the progress of players towards the top ranks.
This trophy is awarded after the CAQ Open Singles each year.
